At Four Town Dental, we do more than provide the basic services that you would expect from any dentist in Enfield. Our highly skilled team is able to provide a number of advanced procedures, including oral surgery. This page discusses some of our main oral surgery services.
Regardless of which oral surgery you need to undergo, you can expect to us to perform your procedure with compassion and gentleness. Anesthesia and sedation help to make our patients as comfortable as possible.
The general steps involved in oral surgery are as follows:
We always make efforts to help our patients retain their natural teeth if at all possible. However, tooth extractions are necessary in some cases. For example, extensive decay, overcrowding, or advanced gum disease can lead to the need for one or more teeth to be removed. If you need to undergo a tooth extraction, we will first numb the area. Then, we will use gentle force to break the ligaments that hold the tooth in place. Depending on the reason for your extraction, we may later be able to replace the extracted tooth with a dental implant or fixed bridge.
At your routine checkups, we will always examine your wisdom teeth to determine with they pose a threat to your oral health. If we recommend that you get them removed, or you want to have them extracted as a precautionary measure, we will plan your surgery. During the procedure, we may have to create an incision in the gums or break the teeth into pieces in order to remove them with as little damage to the surrounding tissue as possible.
Dental implants are considered to be the gold standard in tooth replacement. While many practices must refer patients to an outside specialist for the surgery wherein the dental implants are placed in the jawbone, we can perform the procedure right here in our office. During the surgery, we open the gums, create space in the bone for the implant at a precise, pre-planned position, insert the implant, and then close the gums. After you heal adequately from the placement procedure, you will return to our office for the rest of your tooth replacement journey with dental implants.
